Attended Georgia Southern University, with scholarships, and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelors of Science in Chemistry. Georgia Southern University’s chemistry program is one of the top ranked American Chemistry Society certified programs in the country.

While at Georgia Southern University, Steven was very active in many student-led organizations such as:

  • Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society
  • The Hearts and Hands Clinic
  • Southern Chemical Society
  • American Chemical Society
  • Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity
  • College Student Interest Group in Neurology

Some of the Honors and Awards received during my time include:

  • Represented the Chemistry Department of Georgia Southern University at the Spring 2008 American Chemical Society National Conference – By invitation only, personally selected to represent research team at the national conference in New Orleans, Louisiana. Presented the results following the investigation and analysis of the chemical structure of indole-6-carboxylic acid.
  • Received the Excelsior Award– Awarded annually at Sigma Phi Epsilon’s national Carlson Leadership Academy for exceptional improvement in the area of Member Development ; Developed and instituted demanding policies, standards, and events designed to stimulate each member’s awareness and growth in the areas of academic success, community and social responsibilities, and personal well-being.
  • Received the Donald C. McCleary Excellence in Membership Development Award (2 time winner) – Awarded annually at Sigma Phi Epsilon’s national CarlsonLeadershipAcademy to recognize those chapters who outperformed their peers in the area of member development.
  • Received the Diligence Award from Sigma Phi Epsilon – Georgia Epsilon Chapter; awarded to the brother that displayed constant and earnest effort to accomplish what is undertaken; persistent exertion of body or mind.
